“Man is indeed an object miraculously vain, various and wavering. It is difficult to found a judgement on him which is steady and uniform.”

Montaigne cites various examples of how people change their attitude & behaviour in different situations. We have a fickle mind. That’s our base nature.

Should we just accept our fickleness? Or is steadfastness in certain aspects of our life a worthy goal to strive for, even if it cannot be perfected?
